Dear Blog, it's been too long..

I've been kept busy both at work and at home which is why I've been neglecting my website. Home-wise we've been busy setting up the horse quarters for Isabella's arrival on Saturday (hooray!). Her arrival was pushed back a week because of near 0's temperatures last week when we were supposed to put the shelter up. There was no way to set the auger anchors into the ground with the ground frozen solid, even though the sun was shining and the weather was nice. So, the shelter has been put up and the fencing has been finished (almost), the gate installed, water trough & deicer to be set out, hay stacked, salt block purchased and set out. All we need is the horse!

I'm concerned that she'll be lonely by herself so I've been contemplating purchasing a companion for her. I know I've been saying that for months now.. should I buy another horse? I guess it all depends on the landlord. He has been talking about advertising the horse pasture to the public and getting some boarders in. If that were the case I wouldn't have to worry about Isabella getting lonely. On our road there is a small little paddock with an older grey horse who lives by himself. He looks very sad by himself and I often see him just staring off into the distance with dull eyes. :( I don't want Isabella to become like that.

I've also been thinking now that we're settled to join a fitness club or start some sort of fitness regime. On the way to work there is a jazzercise club so I am going to do a trial class next week and then most likely join monthly ($38 for unlimited classes) and hopefully get to at least 2 classes a week.

Anyhoo, thank goodness it's almost Friday! We got a couple inches of snow this morning and it took me 15 minutes to get to work (gasp). Normally it takes me 5-10. ;)

Too good not to post..

Jack wakes up with a huge hangover the night after a business function.

He forces himself to open his yes and the first thing he sees is a couple of aspirins next to a glass of water on the side table. And, next to them, a single red rose!

Jack sits up in bed and sees his clothing in front of him, all clean and pressed.

Jack looks around the room and sees that it is in perfect order, spotlessly clean. So is the rest of the house. He takes the aspirins, cringes when he sees a huge black eye staring back at him in the bathroom mirror and notices a note on the table: "Honey, breakfast is on the stove, I left early to go shopping - Love you!!"

He stumbles to the kitchen and sure enough, there is hot breakfast and the morning newspaper. His son is also at the table, eating. Jack asks, "Son...what happened last night?"

"Well, you came home after 3 am , drunk and out of your mind. You broke the coffee table, puked in the hallway and got that black eye when you ran into the door."

So, why is everything in such perfect order, so clean, I have a rose and breakfast is on the table waiting for me?"

His son replies, "Oh, THAT!...Mom dragged you to the bedroom and when she tried to take your pants off, you screamed, "Leave me alone, bitch, I'm married!!!".

Broken table - $200
Hot breakfast - $5
Red Rose bud - $3
Two aspirins - $0.25
Saying the right thing, at the right time... PRICELESS

Watching Sex an the City

Couch potato

I am SO ready to leave this fancy schmancy dressage barn I'm at right now. The people here are so fastidious and anal about everything!! I knew what I was getting into.. I want like that to keep their eyes on Isabella during this transition period, but man, I am getting tired of it.

In the arenas, you have to pick up your horse's poop if they decide to go if you're riding. Is it just me or is this just a bit ridiculous? Maybe it's because I've never boarded at a place catered to snotty clean DQs like this. Granted, Isabella views the arena as her personal litter box. :P She poops at least 4-5 times every ride.

And there are so many rules.. passing on the left, faster riders on the inside, all for the sake of safety.. screw that, give me the trails any day! They're all icy and slick right now. :(

Just 2 1/2 more weeks.. *sigh*

Happy New Year's everyone!

Matt and I are gradually moving everything into the new house. I am still a bit nervous about bringing Isabella home.. it's a lot of responsibility and I hope I am up for the challenge. Every time we go over to the house I gaze out into the pasture and I try to imagine Isabella grazing out there. It's so friggin cool to think she'd be so close.

We have until the 15th to move out of the apartment. Today we went to Target (spending Miri's target gift card, thank you!) and purchased a bunch of new storage organizers for the new place. You'd think we'd have enough stuff but apparently not. Matt has purchased a really nice king sized bed so we can stop our Sleep Wars and I purchased a really beautiful bed set to go along with it. I can't wait to go to sleep in it!
