It's so strange trying to find friends 'as a couple'. Matt and I have been discussing finding some friends out here on the Pacifica side, since ALL of our close-knit group of friends live in the east bay. Don't worry guys, you guys can never be replaced! But Matt especially, thinks it would be nice if we had another 'couple' friend that we could hang out with every once in a while.

But how the heck do you make friends like that? As sad as it is, it's a little creepy to approach two people and start to be friendly. These days people think you're into something wierd or deviant (See: all the mw4mw on the Casual Encounters section of craigslist).

Last night I went to a shot clinic for China's yearly shots. I arrived about 10 minutes before the clinic started and already there was a long ass line. China and I were behind this nice gal and her puppy and we began chatting. She was friendly, conversation was smooth, and the whole time I was thinking, Matt is gonna be sooo proud of me, scoping out potential friends for us! But I didn't want to come on too strong.. kind of like scoping out a potential date. Ya gotta seem eager, but not *too* eager to be considered wierd. I also had to mention Matt right away so she didn't think I was a lesbian trying to come on to her. It's all very wierd. Why can't it be more simple, like in the olden days when all you had to do was say, "Hey, want to come over and ride bikes sometime?" or "I have a really cool Barbie collection, want to come over and see?" or "Let's play doctor!"

In any case, I don't know if I'll ever see her again but she and her boyfriend do walk her little pup along the same pier that we go to, so it's a possibility. But then, what is the next step in a couple relationship? Do you ask them to dinner? Come over to watch a movie then snuggle under a blankey when you get cold?

Omg, I so ditto this. Stupid ad is on every other commercial break, I've managed to hate Gap and resent Audrey in one (actually multiple) sitting.

Just for Mark:

Friday, September 15, 2006

There are so many random things to talk about.

Hanging around so much testosterone (Mark & Matt) is making me miss my girlfriends. A few nights ago I came home and I had to tell someone about my new Bare Escentuals makeup kit but Mark was the only one around. So I asked him, "So Mark, I know you'll have no interest in this conversation whatsoever, so can I girl-out on you? Mark replies, "Sure."

Me: So I got a Bare Escentuals makeover today and I bought the kit that they had at Ulta, but now I was just looking at Sephora's Bare Escentuals kit and it's so much better!!
Mark: Oh-kay.
Me: Yeah, so I'm just going to return this kit and buy Sephora's. Sephora's has this kabuki brush that the Ulta one doesn't have that's worth like $28 by itself. And the kit is $60!
Mark: omg, I totally know. I haven't seen that brush for less than $35!!!!
Me: Yeah, so I wanted to just needed to justify returning the kit.
Mark: You need to return the kit!!!!

Haha! Thanks, Mark.

Is anyone watching Survivor? They have the tribes seperated out into 4 groups: Asians, Latinos, Whites, and Blacks. Dear lord, the show is setting itself up for racist comments.. last night, for instance, on the physical challenge that was largely a puzzle challenge and involved lots of teamwork: Asians worked quietly and efficiently, was in 2nd for most of the race but ended up 1st. Latinos were first most of the race but lost it at the end and gave up the lead. Whites had A LOT of trouble with the puzzles.. a lot. Black people weren't working together at all and ended up finishing the first puzzle way behind everyone else.

It'll be interesting to see how the show ends up. I can see the asian team being the quiet come behind kind of team.. OH OH, my favorite guy on the asian team is this witch doctor looking guy that cured his teammate's bad headache with some crazy chinese energy. He looks like Rafiki from the Lion King. In the previews for the next episode they show him telling some horrible Vietnamese/dog joke. Can't wait.

Exciting time ahead..

The past few weekends have been quite mellow and have given Matt and I a change to relax and enjoy each other's company (and for me to detox from this stupid drug). But the horsey events are ramping up to a full September!

Because Isabella seemed a bit frizzled out mentally and physically from the endurance rides, I've decided to have fun the rest of the year and dabble in horsey events *other* than 50 mile rides.

Next weekend I'll be helping out at an endurance ride and drag riding the last 10 miles of the 50 mile ride in one of my favorite parks, Anthony Chabot. I'm familiar with where the last leg of the trail goes and it's lovely.. right along the golf course then winds down into this beautiful valley with an awesome trail along a small stream. I can't wait.

The weekend after I was rounded up (har) to participate in a cow clinic in La Honda. It's an Introduction to Cow Work with a trainer named Art Grunig. My barn manager says we'll be covering reining, working cow horse, cutting, and classical horsemanship. It should be really fun! I can't wait to see how Isabella will react. We've been around tons of cows and it always takes her a while to settle down and not be all bug-eyes and snorty.

The weekend after that I decided to enter a local schooling show in Half Moon Bay. This should be HILARIOUS because #1 I haven't shown in 10 years #2 Isabella and I have set foot in an arena less than the number of fingers I have on both hands and #3 I have no showing equipment. We're just gonna go in and have fun. Although I am getting a little stressed out about it.. I can feel it in my stomach as I'm reading about the rules 'n stuff. I just need to remember to put all that aside and enjoy myself.. which is the whole reason I'm doing it anyway! So far I've entered us in: Showmanship, Halter Class, Trail Class, and maybe Elementary Jumping. Recipe for disaster? Stay tuned and find out!

Anyways, if any of you local folks want to come and see any of these events just email me.

Oh yeah, a few of us are getting into starting a D&D campaign. In the band are: Matty, me, Walt, and Amit. Guest starring Rajan. Mark is the DM. I've offically stepped in the world of nerd-dom with my dice purchase and my figurines. I can't wait to play..

So very very wierd..

Just some random thoughts:

I don't care how overhyped or overpriced Paul Frank paraphenalia is.. I love it all. Specifically Longshot and Vic. Too too cute! I want Paul Frank everything.. is that so wrong?

I think the skinny jeans is the worst fashion trend to hit in our modern times.. it's worse than slouchy socks! Skinny jeans look good on no one, even emaciated size 0 types.

Haven't been feeling too well the past week or so. I stopped taking one of my medications on Saturday and have been experiencing the WORST horrible withdrawal effects, even though I weaned down like my doc suggested. Severe nausea, dizziness, foggy mind, and worst of all, zaps in my head every time I turn or move. There's no good explanation for this except imagine that you're being electrocuted for 1/2 a second. Or, imagine that feeling when your foot is asleep.. now magnify that by 100 and imagine that it's all over your body. It really sucks. During this withdrawal, I've been reading up on this medication with the help of Google and I can't believe the tons and tons of negative experiences people have had getting off this medicine. One person described, "Getting off XXX has been by far the worst experience of my life. I would enjoy a colonoscopy performed by Edward Scissor Hands more than coming off of XXX." That's about right.

Right now I'm on Benadryl, which helps with the constant zapping, and anti-nausea medication prescribed by my doc. Benadryl effectively blocks the cytochromes which are responsible for breaking down this drug in the body.. so it temporarily makes you feel better. It's more of a band-aid than anything else. I'm going through this 2-week body cleansing system and I'm going to stop by the health store again today to buy some omega-3 and flax seed to see if that'll help flush this evil evil drug out of my body.

I can't wait to feel normal again. For the first time in a long time I've felt that life is really good. It's very frustrating wanting to do something simple like go to the bookstore, or take a nice long ride on my horse, but can't because of this ordeal I'm going through.

Oh well, gotta maintain a positive attitude. It's Friday and a 3 day weekend ahead which I get to spend with my Matty. It could be worse.
