Happy 1 year birthday to Midnightbox.com! I've gotten a few mystery boxes from them in the past.. fun stuff. Here's hoping my next mystery box is a phat set of home speakers.. Bose will do just fine. :)

The weekend started out pretty damn sucky!! (but actually ended up quite nice)

On Saturday, Mom, Lizette, and Andy were scheduled to arrive later in the afternoon (for Mark's Sunday graduation) so I decided to get a ride in on Isabella before the 3 day Wild West Ride this weekend (35 miles, 30 miles, 25 miles on Friday/Saturday/Sunday). We had a great ride and afterwards I gave her loves and turned her out, but it took me about 3 HOURS to drive home. Major suckage. Highway 92 was completely closed down so traffic was diverted down to 84 out of Woodside which was HORRENDOUS. I was pretty damned stressed after all that.

Thankfully I have the best boyfriend in the world and he had my place almost cleaned in time for our guests' arrivals. All I had to do was straighten out the kitchen, bathroom, and bed and I had enough time for a power nap before everyone arrived. It was Lizette and Andy's first visit to Pacifica and we had a good time catching up. Mark came over in the evening and they played a rambunctious game of 'Settler's of Cataan' where total noobie Lizette kicked everyone's asses and led Matt to drinking. :) I was busy preparing a ham and cheese breakfast casserole for the next morning out of uber-fresh eggs I had picked up from the barn that day. Growing up in the suburbs we've always had grocery bought eggs so I wanted them to see and taste the difference.. the casserole in the morning was recieved very well, although I made a big boo-boo and put in cinnamon instead of paprika by mistake. Oopsy.

In case anyone's interested, the recipe for the casserole is as follows
6 eggs
3 cups milk
1/2 pound cheddar cheese
1/2 pound baked ham
3 stalks green onion
8 pieces white bread
butter

Cut off the edges of the bread and butter one side. Line a big baking dish butter side down with the bread. Sprinkle layers of ham, cheese, and green onion. Beat eggs and milk together and add salt, pepper and paprika (optional) to taste (although not too salty - the ham and cheese are pretty salty in itself). Cinnamon is optional also (doh). Let sit overnight. In the morning, let come to room temperature then bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes or until firm.

Congratulations to Mark on graduating from Berkeley with a Genomics and Plant Biology major! It's a huge accomplishment.

Life around casa de Julienne will definitely be changing in the next few months.. details to come..

I was going to post on how wonderful a weekend I had with family and friends. I did.

I found out today that my first horse, Harley, who I sold to a gal who wanted to trail ride, who later went on to join the Oakland Mounted Patrol, died unexpectedly. I guess it happened a few months ago but I just never heard the news until today.

Poor sweet Harley. With the uncertain fate of the Mounted Patrol unit he was kept at Piedmont Stables in Oakland (he arrived a month after I left there). I kept wishing our paths would cross.. wishing that I could go see him and say hello, but I think a small part of me didn't want to see him. I know that I rescued him from being cowboyed around that horrible ranch.. he came to me with so many vices, being overly headshy and sensitive and untrusting. Over the 4 years I owned him I made so many mistakes being a novice horse owner, a small part of me couldn't bear to see him. And now I can't. :'(

Rest in peace, Beau, I will always remember you. Thank you for teaching me so much. Despite all the pain you went through you were always so kind and forgiving towards me. I'll always be greatful to have been blessed to have you in my life. I know you're running in greener pastures now, where you're pain free and happy.

Anyone watch Scrubs last night? Turk was wearing an awesome shirt..

In my google search for this, I came across THE BEST SITE FOR SHIRTS EVAR. THis site rocks! I found my source of Christmas presents for all the guys in my life since all are gaming nerds. :)

Ya know how I know I had a pretty good ride this past weekend? All my fingernails are intact. All of them. No broken nails from pulling on a crazy horse, no bleeding cuticles from frantically gripping on my reins. Isabella's luxury spa treatment continued yesterday with a full body massage, tailbag wrap, and an all over spray of Showsheen. She's so slick that flies who try and land on her will slip and slide down her body. She seems to be feeling great - I turned her out and she ran around snorting with her tail flipped over her back. Hehe.

There is really no comparison between storebought eggs and eggs fresh from a chicken's uterus. Yesterday I recieved 18 fresh eggs from the barn where I keep Isabella. This morning I made 3 egg white with some sharp cheddar.. and it was the most delicious meal I've eaten in a long time. Yumyum.

This afternoon I'm off to the Diablo's ride. I only hope Isabella is conditioned enough to carry my big butt over 25 miles of hills. We shall see! Wish us luck!

So unmotivated to post..

How about another embarrassing story?

This past weekend was pretty busy. Saturday morning we woke up to China puking all over the place making us late for Merima's moving day (sorry Merima!) :( We eventually made it over to her place in Concord an hour late and they had so many people there and were so organized that they were almost done! Thankfully we were able to help a bit and loaded my truck up to their *new* home in Martinez.

After some yummy hamburgers Matt and I headed over to Fry's for some Mattfodder (and I needed to buy a wirestripper). We wandered slowly around the store while Matt drooled over all the electronics and doohickey gadgets. Eventually we ended up near the checkout counter in a deserted aisleway (software games) Michael Jackson was playing on the loudspeaker, providing a great soundtrack to our shopping experience.

I decided to regale Matt with my best Michael Jackson impersonation and began dancing, complete with fingers doing the money rubbing motion and bobbing my head forward and backward. Matt stood watching in either appreciation or horror in complete silence. I had just finished my moonwalk across the aisleway and my hand was poised and ready to grab my crotch and my mouth shaped in an 'O' ready for my signature MJ "oooooooooooooooohhhhh!!" when I felt a tap on my shoulder. Two Fry's employees needed to get by me and were watching for who knows how long! haha. I especially love how Matt gave me no indication of my audience. You'd think I'd be more embarrassed than I was but I really wasn't. Maybe it's because I'm getting old and I don't really care anymore? Pretty soon I'll be burping and farting in public.. oh wait.

Diablo's Pistoleros is this weekend! I've heard it's a tough ride.. no flats, just up and down. It'll be a good conditioning ride for our 30/35/25 multiday ride at the end of this month.
