I'm so incredibly pooped. After 6 days of working in a row, and a Sunday that was just as busy as the days before, I haven't been getting much rest at all! Saturday we had upgrades to do on the computers at work, so I spent 10 hours at work, then sat in another 1 1/2 hours of traffic (cry!) on the way home. WTF on a Saturday night. Seriously, I was in tears when I slowed down and realized I was going to be sitting in traffic after a crappy day of work on a Saturday. I kept my wits about me, and decided if I didn't want to sit and wallow in pity, that I needed to keep my mind off of things.. so I called my mom who listened to me BITCH and MOAN for an hour. Thank you, Mommy!

I didn't feel like doing much when I got home, but Matt stopped by and really made me feel so much better. I felt a shroud was lifted off my shoulders when I saw him and the world became so much brighter and happier. :)

The next day we went to this dude's place I met on craigslist who was going to fix my computer. His place was an underground dungeon and we spent about 3-4 hours there. After my computer was done and we climbed up the stairs to resurface, I felt like we had been in a bomb shelter and were re-merging into the world. Matt had a good laugh while we were down there. At one point I was sitting on his lap while I was talking to the dude, concentrating because he was telling me to do something when I got home. Matt was bouncing me up and down and apparently I patted him and said, "China, STOP IT" then resumed my conversation with the dude.

Later that evening we drove from San Leandro to San Bruno to check out this apartment I was really interested in. It turned out to be a really nice spacious in-law unit in a cute, quiet neighborhood. The couple who owns the place is older and seemed to like me, Matt and China quite a bit. I'm totally excited! I'll be so much closer to work and I'll also be able to move Isabella into a nice spacious pasture where I won't feel guilty (unlike now since she's living in a dark, depressing stall). I just found out that Vinny, a coworker I'm sharing an office with, lives right down the street also. Woohoo! I was nervous moving over to that side of the bay without knowing anyone, but now I do.. yay. Matt and I had dinner at the Outback (yummy, juicy prime rib!! MM MMMMmmm) and didn't get home until 10:30 or so. I completely passed out on the drive home.. I was so tired.

So, that was my only day off after 6 days of work. I was running around and didn't really get to rest much. Tonight I go see Isabella.. I think I'm getting sick after all this! :(

I've been having recurring dreams I'm shopping in a big huge retail store. Last night's dream was about toilet paper - A pack of 24 *excellent* quality toilet paper for $5.99. The package was a little squished, but it was the last one so I bought it. Hooray..

I've been slacking on my posting here so I'll try and make up for it in this entry.

This past week I had Thursday and Friday off. I was in dire need of an escape to somewhere woodsy and pretty, so we rented this cute cottage in the middle of the woods for Friday and Saturday night. We decided to make a long weekend out of it and started off woodsy and pretty at Matt's parent's place in Santa Rosa Thursday night. On the drive up, we stopped by my favorite winery. Matt has decided that I call this my "favorite" because it's just a huge room of free samples cuz I don't really drink wine, which is true. I could honestly care less or even tell what is considered a "good" wine.. except for dessert wine or port. Mmm.. Anyways, telling people I have a favorite winery makes me seem like I'm hip with the wine scene, or something.

The drive up through Sonoma was beautiful. We stopped by several fruit and vegetable stands for fresh food for the weekend. We also stopped by the little town square to "fake feed" the ducks. There was a big geese with a naked neck, so we called him "Neck-id". Hah! There were also a pair of ducks that were huge, like geese, so they were aptly named "Guck" and "Doose". We also saw a pretty ugly duck take a huuuge squirty crap in front of us. Impressive.

We drove up to Matt's place after much duck fun. The house that he grew up in is very nice.. it's out in the middle of the boonies with lots of skylights and surrounded by trees. We pulled into his driveway and there was someone in the "usual" parking spot, so Matt decided to park off the gravel road underneath some trees on a gradual hill. Any other time of the year this would've been fine, but after a few weeks of rain, the ground was pretty mushy and damp. Soo... the truck got stuck. We called USRider which is like AAA for trucks and horse trailers, and I got to get my money's worth of my membership fee the next morning. Apparently a "normal" tow truck wouldn't do because after all, my truck is a 3/4 ton vehicle and no one wanted to get their tow truck stuck. But a nice fellow came out with his heavy duty tow truck and winched us out of our predicament. Matt was very apologetic, and I was miffed, but got over it. Yarg.

The rest of the weekend was beautiful. The cottage turned out even better than in the photos, and it was located in the middle of the redwoods. We checked out the cute little town of Mendocino and I got most of my Christmas shopping done. Inside the cottage we found the owners had left us directions to a secret waterfall in a nearby park, so we hiked there one day.. and found about 5 other couples at this "secret".. China scared the crap out of everyone by running full speed towards the top of the waterfall, almost to the edge, before sprinting back towards us. She was seriously insane the entire trip. Totally stoked we left the apartment, every time she was loose she'd run around like a stark raving mad lunatic. Fortunately that left her pooped for the night and she'd fall asleep in a dead coma.

We made some delicious food.. bacon, eggs, and english muffins for breakfast, carnitas tacos and Matt's yummy pasta sauce for dinner (with polenta, which I never knew existed before and there was probably a good reason why). ;) The last night, however, I felt a bit grouchy and bad about myself. I felt like I had eaten like a pig over the last few days and felt like isolating myself. Matt was sweet, consoling me and reassuring me that I'd feel better.. and I did eventually. Taking me out of a 'routine' was tough on my system. Fortunately I have an awesome, caring boyfriend who understands with open arms whenever I start feeling that way.

I didn't want to return to Berkeley, but we did.. what a stark contrast to the vast fields and moss-covered forests we were in just a few hours earlier. We decompressed from the drive home by watching Waterboy ("YOU can DOOOOO it!") and playing Xmen: Legends.

Just thinking about this coming week stresses me out.. full week of work including Saturday. Ugh! At least next week is Thanksgiving.. hooray for Pilgrims.

Have I mentioned how cool X-Men:Legends is? It's such a good game.. Matt and I spent most of Sunday morning and evening playing. For a coop game it's very cool because not only do you get to fight together, but there are combo moves you can do that increase your EXP points by quite a bit. There are also combo moves which are completely pointless other than childish entertainment. I found when I play Rogue I can pick up Wolverine (who Matt plays) and throw him across the screen, into trees, into other players, etc. I find it much more amusing than he does. ;) You can also attach a 2nd PS2 console and have 4 people play altogether.. that would be fun! Walt, if you're reading this, we should all try it (with the rice).

Saturday was spent in Pacifica exploring the different neighborhoods. Yes, I'm moving again.. not sure when. I'm sick of living in ghetto Berkeley and need a place near the ocean where I'll feel more safe. I love foggy, overcast weather, and Pacifica seems like a pretty cool little town. My commute will be shorter, and I won't feel scared to be outside at night without Matt or China.

We visited several different apartments in Pacifica but didn't come across any that I wanted to live in. It was fun pretending to be a couple looking for a place together. Most apartment leasing offices have loads of free stuff set out for potential renters such as cookies, candies, and coffee. We took advantage of this by mooching as much as we could, even when we knew we wouldn't be that interested. I'm thinking this could turn into a fun weekend activity for us. :)

Is it illegal to fly helicopters over llamas? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm... can't find info about this anywhere.

I've got a fever.. and the only prescription is MORE COWBELL.

Wednesday, November 03, 2004

I'm so excited for next week. In addition to taking Friday off for Veteran's Day, I took the 11th off for a 4 day mini-vacation weekend!

Thursday Matt, China, and I will be heading up to stay at his parent's place in Santa Rosa. They have a really nice house in the middle of nowhere. Hopefully we'll be able to stop by my faaaavorite winery on the way up. China chewed up the paper bag I got there when I purchased some jam. It was the best paper bag I ever had *sniff*. It carried many a lunches for me.

Friday and Saturday nights we're staying at a cabin in Mendocino. Hopefully it'll be remote and in the middle of the woods. From the photos it looks pretty nice.. about a week ago, in a stressed out state, I decided I needed to escape somewhere without people or traffic. I really need to unwind.

Eeee! I can't wait.

Hope everyone had a good Halloween!

Matt and I had a pretty fun time. Beverly had a party at her place and so it was a good excuse to get all dolled up and catch up with friends I hadn't seen in a while. Matt went as Bling-bling Jesus, complete with $$$ and 'GANGSTA' faux-diamond rings and a big gold cross hung with gold chains around his neck. I dressed up as an angel and finally got an excuse to wear my silver dress for the first time (I've had this dress since high school!). Merima came as a flapper with her boyfriend, John, who was a belly dancer, complete with bra and coins on his groin. Being a bit intoxicated, I thought making up 'coins on his groin' was the funniest thing ever. :)

The rest of the weekend was pretty quiet. We went to the driving range for the first time in months. My arm's sore, but I think my drives were pretty good, considering. Matt hadn't really hit in 10 years and he was able to blast the ball off to infinity and beyond. That got me hot..

Sunday we used the free tickets to Marineworld that we got at Merima's company function a few months ago. We didn't go on any rides, but mainly spent our time in the animal portion of the park. The highlights were the tiger show (they'd throw meat into the pool and the tigers would dive down for them, so cool), and the Butterfly Experience. Matt had a little winged passenger on him who made himself comfy for a while until we left the greenhouse. There was also a pond inside and a huge gold koi fish kept swimming towards us. Cute fishy!

Later towards the evening we went to the Berkeley Marina to let China run around. In the off-leash area, we ran into a guy on his bike and his dog, Gus. China was in rare form, running around like mad, and got the other dog to start a game of chase. At one point, China ran after Gus and poor Gus got caught in the spokes of the guy's bike. :( The guy flipped over his bike right in front of us, doing a big somersault into the air! Gus ran off limping. Fortunately no one was seriously injured.. Gus had a few superficial scrapes and the guy was shaken, but was incredibly nice as we apologized profusely for what happened. It was pretty crazy that it happened in front of us..

We topped off the weekend with 4 straight hours of Xmen: Legends, and lots of Halloween chocolate. Mmm.
