So, I recieved an offer yesterday from the company in Emeryville. The salary isn't too great, but I'm waiting to hear what their stock options 'n such will be. I'm unsure of how I feel about the job. It's a small start-up, so most likely I'll be working overtime.. however, I'll be learning quite a bit for whatever next position I decide on. The fact that its a startup is good and bad.. I could become rich with the stock options they offer.. but in the same way, the stock could be worth nothing at all in a year.. if they don't go public at all.

I don't know what to do. I'm trying to lengthen out the process so I have enough time to decide and leave my options open for other positions. I had a phone interview this morning with Genentech which seemed promising.

Decisions, decisions.

Tuesday, February 24, 2004

I'm slowly losing motivation in my job search. The last day of our 90 day period is March 9th, which is a mere 2 weeks away. Gimme job plz kthx.

^ you know, instead of 'away' I accidently wrote 'a gay' before I fixed it. What's up with that? I am amused.

Yesterday was Amit's birthday, so happy birthday to him! Everyone go to his page and check out his illustrated bloggy.

Not much to write about. Woke up early today to workout, go ride Isabella (she seems to be mostly over her cold now), and now I'm gonna grab some lunch and I'm off to worky.

DEPECHE MODE ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 4EVAR.

Monday, February 23, 2004

Yesterday was quite possibly the dullest day of my life. Well, it started and ended okay.. China and I went to Pt. Isabel and walked around for a bit, then I did nothing for a few hours. I was sore from working out the day before so I stretched, watched Shawshank Redemption - which I hadn't seen before and cried like a little girl as I was watching it. Then picked up Lanesplitters Pizza and headed to Walt's with Amit and Theo for some Xbox.

After a 2-3 week respite from the game, I have become freakishly good at Halo. I'm not sure what happened to me. I think my old Quake3 skillZ have ressurected.

Hmm.. amazingly accurate I would say..

My primary mythical creature is the dragon; my shadow creature is the centaur.

Fire Types
The main strength of the Fire types is achievement. The second element indicates the most probable focus for this urge to achieve.

Dragon
Fire with Air

Astrologically associated with Sagittarius and the Ninth House

Dragon types are charismatic leaders. They exude confidence and optimism and thrive on competition. They are progressive and expansive, socially oriented, and eager to achieve something for the greater good. They are informed by their love of ideas and exciting possibilities, and are often guided by strong moral and religious feeling. They can usually back up their plans with faultless logic. They are constantly active, moving restlessly from project to project, often having several going at once. They need to have control and will delegate tasks to people they can trust to perform well. They work hard and play hard. They are popular, both at work and socially. They have a flair for the dramatic and for display, but nevertheless they can be difficult to get to know intimately. They crave stimulation, are unconventional, and hate red tape.

Earth Types
All the Earth types have problems relating to productivity and stability. The weakest element indicates the main focus of these problems.

Centaur
Earth and Water

This shadow wants to control everything. They want to control everyone, and will keep people at a distance except to do this. They don’t trust emotions because they are random and unfathomable. They seek to control their emotions too, to avoid being engulfed by them. They fear the unknown and hate what is hidden from them. From this comes a compulsive urge to reveal everything as far as possible and to categorize it. This can represent the sum of what they achieve, while more substantial goals are ignored. Even emotions are rationalized away or simply ignored, making them insensitive and callous. The biggest obstacle of weak Water is to overcome insensitivity and alienation; the biggest obstacle of weak Earth is to overcome self-centeredness and greed.

Scene yesterday:

Pulling my truck into the driveway out at the barn, I peer around pasture as I always do for Isabella. Usually she recognizes the truck and I see a little white head pop up and whinny at me. The pasture is soggy and wet, and scanning my eyes over the herd I don't see my Isabella. No worries as she is probably either standing behind another horse or tucked away into the gate closest to the gelding pasture (she's a big flirt/hussy when she's in heat). Finally about half-way up the driveway I recognize a big huge dirt clod in the shape of a horse with my lovely pony's white head sticking out. I could only say one thing. "Holy #$&^%!" Dear God, I'd never seen her that dirty before.

Laughing to myself I pull in and park and let China out to run around. I call out to Isabella and she whinnies at me, tossing her head. She's standing near the water trough and when I call her again, she comes running at me, enthusiastic and happy since I wasn't able to see her this weekend. Now picture this, a 900 pound animal running at you screaming in wet, slippery pasture. It wasn't pretty.

The next half hour was spent trying to get her back into a semblance of a "somewhat dirty" horse from an "absolutely filthy" horse. With metal curries in both hands, I worked to scrape all the dried mud off of her fur while she stood there patiently, making peewee herman faces at me as she always does. I recieved a pretty good arm workout yesterday from all that scraping. At this time of year she's beginning to shed as well, so dirt and fur were flying everywhere. I came home pretty filty.

Ahh, the joys of mud. I can't wait until spring when I get my white horse back again.. *sigh*

What kind of drunk are you?

Rowdy Drunk

Shut up, already, rowdy drunk! You're the most dreaded drunk of all to waitresses and bartenders alike. I could probably find you in an enormous group of people, banging your mug on the table, singing Irish drinking songs, and screaming, "WOOOO" every 13 seconds for no particular reason.

Today was bittersweet. I've been cleaning out my office, throwing away old data sheets and papers when I came across the bottle of carrot juice on my desk. Yes my dears, it had been sitting on my desk for 8 long months and I finally threw it away today. I really did think that bottle of carrot juice affected my memory adversely, because ever since it had been sitting and festering on my desk, my mind just hasn't been as sharp as before. It's the end of the carrot saga. Farewell putrid carrot juice.

I crave sushi. Mmm..

Ahh, Tahoe was great! It was sunny the whole time we were up there.. so very nice. The lakeshore seemed like a different world - the first day we arrived, spots along the sand were covered in a thin covering of ice. As indication of my maturity, I declared to Amit, and Mark (who rode up with me): "Everyone has to walk across this spot on the ice to sleep inside the cabin! If you don't, you have to sleep outside." Everyone walked across the ice, cracking it with each step. Then we called Walt over and told him about the living accomodation stipulation.. and by that time the ice was completely crushed and water had seeped through about ankle deep. We made him do it. HAHA!

That evening we met up with Merima and Laquel, had an awesome indian chicken and rice ("try it with the beans and lentils"), and soaked in the hottub under the stars. At one point Mark was rubbing ice on himself and running around in 30 degree weather, then dunking himself in the 100 degree hot tub water. Ah, to be young and vigorous again.

We ate very well: Merima and Laquel both made us yummy breakfasts and on Saturday night we grilled steaks on the BBQ under the stars. Mark and I made tacos on Saturday afternoon after we went snowshoeing in the morning.

China had never seen snow before and she was ecstatic from the moment we arrived. I swear, she spent all three days running and romping through the snow whenever we were outside. She ran like a maddog, sprinting through the snow.. and she'd chase snowballs we threw and bite at them, shaking it around in her mouth. I definitely have to take her up to the snow more often now that I've seen how much she enjoys it.

Anyways, I had great fun. The cabin we stayed in proved to be quite nice, with a lot of perks and extras included in the price. I drove my truck up there and back, and the return drive was pretty uneventful since most people probably left today since it was a holiday. I was very tired on the drive home and slept for a good 10 hours that night. Walt took the majority of the pictures, so once I get a copy of them, I'll share my favorites. =)

Off to bed.. I have another interview tomorrow, yay!

Thursday, February 12, 2004

Tomorrow morning I'm picking up Mark and we'll be off to Tahoe with China, Amit, and Walt. Woohoo! We're staying in this awesome cabin on the North Shore with a hot tub. I'm not too much of a skier (because I'm completely paranoid that someone will crash into me), but I'll be hiking and snowshoeing and most likely hitting people with snowballs. I'm excited because China has never seen the snow before.. so I can't wait to see how she reacts. I'll be sure to take lots of pictures for you all..

This week has been quite mellow. Tuesday evening I had dinner with Mark - we went to this awesome Korean restaurant on Telegraph (further down from Koryo BBQ) and then went for Coldstone icecream afterwards. Wednesday night Travis came over and I made this yummy pasta dish with garlic bread.. mm.. so good. I paid for it this morning.. I went to put on my riding pants and they were a bit snug, so this afternoon I worked out.. too much good food. I watched all 3 Netflix movies this week in addition to too many reality TV shows and Must See TV.

China barfed on her bed last night, so my room smells quite putrid. I have the window open and candles going.. and I threw her bed in the living room with the enzyme cleaner to dry out. Yeech.

A picture Sandi from the barn sent to me just now.. (aka what Isabella does in pasture when I'm not around, party party!)

I've figured out why I've been in such a funk lately. Kiddies, add PMS + UTI together and what do you have? You've got it right, a very mean, anti-social version of me. I've switched the location of where I've been putting my patch, and that supposedly has been causing my schedule to become all messed up. I can't put it on my butt cuz it falls off with repeated panty on/off-ness, and putting it on my lower stomach causes my period to be messed up. Argh! And just being drained from this past week has given me a lowered immune system, causing the UTI.. and the tired, weak feeling I've had these past few days.

Last night I vegged out in front of the television for about 5 hours watching The Last Emperor: Director's Cut. It boggles my mind that the movie was made over 15 years ago.. I remember when it first came out, certain scenes ingrained themselves into my memory. Like him nursing when he was older, or throwing the mouse against the Forbidden City wall. It's an amazing movie.. cinematically breathtaking for its time.

This morning after sleeping in, I went and rode Isabella for a while.. I watched her run around for 20 minutes straight, then hopped on her bareback with my long longing whip - a first for her. We walked around the arena and I smacked things along the ground and gate with the whip.. and it was funny to see her tilt her head, watching what I was hitting, as we walked along. Then we ran into Sandi, the barn manager, and pretend-jousted with Hannah, her rat terrier (while still on top of Isabella), who wanted no part of our shennanagins. Ahh, so easily amused.

Even now at work with the rest I've been getting, I still feel tired and worn out. I had some antibiotics left over from the last UTI episode so I started them back up again after calling my doctor. Hopefully I'll be feeling better for the Tahoe trip this weekend.

Pardon my rant.

This week has been incredibly busy and although only minimally stressful, it's all catching up to me. We've been going out until late these past few evenings and I've been getting up early to take care of myself and trying to find a job, and I'm getting tired of it all. Frankly, I need to reprioritize what's important to me right now and concentrate on those things.

It pisses me off now that people know that I'm unemployed they say things like, "Now you can see your horse more! Go out and exercise, it's a beautiful today!" Like I don't fucking know these things myself. This isn't a fucking vacation. Sure, I'm more flexible to stay out later on weeknights, but with everything involving trying to figure out my livelihood for the rest of the year, I've been incredibly busy, driving around everywhere and taking care of my shit. So, hold your tongue the next time you have a suggestion on how I should spend my copious time off. Even if my mom did that to me I'd get in her face about it. So quit it!

I think its evident I need time for myself. I just need a break right now.

Happy birthday to meeee! Woohoo! Here's what my horoscope said for me today:

Today marks a very significant day, because the Sun is back in Aquarius at exactly the place where it was when you were born. The day starts with you feeling a bit sleepy and reflective. Later your energy level increases. You might enjoy going out for some physical exercise. This is a great day to get in touch with your best friends. Let them share their feelings. Spend time with those who know you best. Talk about your hobbies and current interests. Conversation over coffee or a good meal is ideal. Make sure you spend this day well, since it sets the tone for the year ahead!

Awesome.. I had breakfast with my horsey friends this morning (and I was sleepy because last night we were in the city until 2am) then went to ride Isabella.. and tonight my best buds are coming over for dinner, then we're headed to Oasis to dance our butts off.. I'd say tonight would set a good pace for the year ahead!

Poop! He didn't make it to the next round.. anyways, his name was Micah Read.. the rock 'n roll guy that looked a little like Keifer Sutherland.. verah nice.

Not much to write about today.. did my ballet workout in the morning then went to work in the afternoon. Applied for a few more jobs and confirmed my interview on Friday (it's from 9:30am to 2pm! long!). Then I went to the dog park for a few hours and watched the sunset.. it was so beautiful out today.

Tonight I'll be going with Amit and Laquel to The Top, a bar/club in the city where Amit's friend is spinning. I met the guy last night.. he's this Australian dude with a cool-ass accent.

I'm getting more and more addicted to American Idol, sadly. Oh geezus, there is this one contestant who is so incredibly cute he makes me weak in the knees. Hmm.. can't seem to find his picture. Will post it later!

Woohoo, just finished my new workout video. Much fun! It makes me want to take ballet classes again. Releve.. passe.. grand pile. Oui Oui! Huh Huh Huh! Francois!

Friday evening, Amit/Walt/Merima and I went into the city to the Elbo room. It's a cool little bar in the Mission with strong drinks and lots and lots of guys. As I returned from the restroom one time, this drunk guy at the bar proceeded to grope me as I passed. I was amused (only because he touched my back/side area - not anything else) and told the guys when I returned to our table. It was interesting to see how quickly they offered to kick the drunk guy's ass. Guys like to fight.

The next evening we went to Ruby Skye, a dance club in a totally different part of the city.. I didn't particularly care for the club too much. The crowd was pretentious and rude.. but I enjoyed the music for the most part. Mark Farina was spinning that evening and there were some incredibly beautiful dancers on stage. However, the evening ended in a sour note when I lost my cell phone at the end of the evening. I was pretty pissed at myself..

It all worked out in the end: I picked up Bob's old cell phone he wasn't using and transferred my number over, so all is well. However, I did manage to freak out Mom - she couldn't get a hold of me because for 10 hours my phone said it was disconnected. Went to Walt's house afterwards and ate a bunch of greasy yummy food, but horrible, and came home and passed out.

That is all.
