Lots of changes..
China is gradually getting better. She's almost 4 weeks post op and recovering without much to report up until this week. This past weekend we left her x-pen open for 15 minutes while Matt and I walked down the block for some coffee, and she managed in that time to eat my Valentine's chocolates and a bag of Mark's super spicy beef jerky. Normally this wouldn't have much affect on her iron clad digestive system, but this time around she threw up for 2 days. :( She couldn't keep anything down. On top of that, when I walked her I found wriggly white tapeworms in her poop. She was just a mess! I went to get tapeworm medication for her and she could barely keep that down. Poor dog. I almost expected coming home to a comatose, or worse, dog yesterday.
Isabella is getting better as well. I've been turning her out in small areas while I clean her paddock and you can tell she wants to run. I want so badly to be able to just turn her out in pasture, but I know I need to be patient. Tendons take so long to heal, even if everything seems sound the fibers take a while to completely heal. At this point I risk re-injury - could be a day, could be 2 months, but I have to keep telling myself not to be impatient.

Delicious tapeworms.
Just read the news about your doggie. Poor thing--I'm so sorry she has had to go through all that. Like you, I've had my dog (a lab, too, I think yours is a lab, right?) since he was a baby and can't stand the thought of him in pain. He's had surgery too and luckily had great doctors that took care of the problem. So glad that China is getting better, I'm sure the stress on you has been tremendous. We've had to confine our dog from activity too when he's been hurt and he does not take to it too well!
My dog regularly contracts roundworm--very contagious, can breed in soil and dogs can get infected just by sniffing or stepping on a contaminated area. She takes Zymex II, an all-natural pill. Very scary when I do see those white squirmy things in her BM. I start breaking out in a sweat.
It's almost comforting to read that China is still misbehaving. At least she feels well enough to cause trouble.
Ch-Ch-Ch-CHANGES!
