I've hesitated to write anything about Isabella in the past few weeks because, well, it's pretty depressing.
Here's the synopsis after the vet appointment. Matt and I took a trip to Davis, they found a bit of calcified tendonitis in her deep digital flexor tendon (down in the left front hoof) and some swelling around the coffin bone, which the Davis vet said was pretty normal for a performance horse. After talking with my vet when I got back, I learned that the bit of tendonitis on the ultrasound wasn't severe enough to be causing her to limp... so I had two choices. 1. CT or MRI scan. Either of these costs upwards of $1500-1900. Whatever is found with these can be then treated with shockwave or stem cell therapy, which has been proven to increase healing time and decrease recurrance of the injury. or 2. Stall rest 6-8 months, controlled exercise.
**blog break - China just hocked up two huge blobs of green somethings, both the size of a small dog!!! wtf is she eating that is that color? ugh, my stomach**
Anyways, she's in the 'hospital stall' at the ranch now. I have to go out there everyday to hand walk her and clean her stall. She's pretty much covered in pee. It sucks to have to go out there every day. I think of it akin to working out - if you're motivated and want to feel good you make the decision to go work out and exercise. But once someone tells you that you have to do it EVERY DAY, you start dreading it and it pretty much sucks ass. Well, that's what it's like. Add in a lot of guilt factor that the little 12'x14' stall is her life and that if I don't go out she has to live in her own filth for another day, and that's what it's been like for me the past 3 weeks. I've decided to stay up here for Thanksgiving because I have to stick around for her to get better. *sigh* Only 5 more months to go.
I love my new barn though.. everyone is so sweet and I was felt a little bad that Isabella was going to be laid up for such a long time, taking up their one hospital stall, but I've been reassured by everyone that what is most important is that Isabella get better. It makes life easier that I really like everyone that is out there. Even at Creekside, where I spent 5 years when I lived in Walnut Creek, there were certain people I dreaded running into at the barn. Namely one blonde evil bitch woman who would only ride her horse with a few cocktails in her. I digress, everyone else out there was really nice and it felt like a little family. I'm glad I've found something similar where I am now.
Enough Isabella talk. Last week I saw 'Borat' without knowing anything about the movie or the character. I laughed my ass off.. it was one of the funniest movies I've seen in such a long time. My jaded mind kept anticipating lame comedy, but everything in the movie is just hysterical. I probably annoyed Matt because I kept whispering to him, "Is this real?? Is that person for real??" haha.. sorry honey. ;)
My moustache still tastes of your testes!!
