This past Sunday Matt and I went to Isabella's future pasture and did some landscaping work. It was a pretty good workout.. I was definitely feeling it in my arms and back yesterday. We rented a Weed Wacker from Home Depot (they're the cheapest tool rentals in the area!) and with a rake and shovel in hand, we cleared away about 1/3 of the grass and weeds that were about waist high in the area Isabella will be living in. For those of you non-horsey people out there, too much grass all at once isn't good for horses.. in fact, the sugar content can cause them to become septic and break down soft tissues/bones, specifically in their feet (called 'founder' or 'laminitis'). Nan, the manager of Morning Star Ranch, was there as well with her tractor, clearing out the compost pile left there last year that didn't really compost, but unfortunately the ground was too wet from all the rains we've been getting, and the tractor became stuck. :( We managed to shovel the dirt and mud around the tractor to un-stuck it, and she called it a day and had some cocktails. She is really a hoot, I think I'm going to really like boarding there.

Forget what Matt and I did Saturday.. I did manage to get in a short ride. What the heck else did we do??

I've been having some really crazy vivid dreams lately with this new medication I'm on. Previously, I would sleep dreamlessly, and I could only remember little snippets of nonsensical scenes once in a blue moon. Now I seem to remember in detail what my busy REM sleep brain is processesing and I often wake up remember everything like it actually happened. Matt hasn't been too fond of this since I've been dreaming of other guys (I know why I'm dreaming this - it's a married friend of mine that sleeps with other guys), but my dreams have been so random.. like last night, I dreampt I was at a baby's funeral, but at the same time in the church it was also an old high school friend's wedding. WTF. It's just so random.

Anyhoo, Thursday evening my company is sponsoring an event at the Malibu Grand Prix and Matt, Amit, and Walt will be there to tear the race track up. It'll be fun.. they're having Top Dog from Berkeley cater the event and free track racing, mini golf, and unlimited video games. Good times. The forcast calls for clear weather so I'm looking forward to it!

Lately I've been feeling like I really need to get in shape, especially since it's been so muddy and I haven't been riding much. So tonight I went to the local Curves gym (which is like 2 miles away) to give it a test run. It's an interesting concept.. they have a bunch of resistance machines with "cardio spots" in between and you make your way around the room twice for a 30 minute workout. They also have a stretching room where you go after your workout. I haven't made up my mind about it yet.. there's another all women's gym called 'Butterly Life' in Pacifica that I'm going to check out as well before I make a decision.

I LOVE Curves! You may remeber from my ridecamp post, that it is due to Weight Watchers and Curves that I have lost 55 lbs since September. Truthfully, I kinda enjoy gyms where they have "classes" more, but IMO Curves is the best choice for busy gals like us. 30 minutes, you're in, you're out. If you want more info e-mail me.

Btw, aren't you due down in my neck of the woods soon?

My mom goes to a place like curves and loves it. Now that I'm finally out of my bally's contract I was thinking I'd try it.
