So my DSL has mysteriously been shut off at home. Actually my whole phone line has been shut off, which sucks, because I may have to pay for it being turned back on.. and I'm friggin moving out in 2 weeks! ARGH. Stupid SBC I HATE YOU!!
This past weekend was eventful. Sunday we all ventured out to Merima's house for an awesome breakfast (waffles, scrambled eggs, bacon, banana nut muffins, and roasted potatoes), then drove up to Tiburon to catch the Ferry to Angel Island. The ferry ride was short, maybe 5 minutes long, and when we arrived at the island we found it inundated with families celebrating the holiday weekend. Fortunately we were able to find some respite by hiking some distance into the hills.
The trails were awesome.. switchbacks all the way up, and the weather was cool and breezy. We stopped 3/4 of the way up for lunch.. Amit had these super monster twisty Cheetos that were huuuuuge. We kept stopping along the hike for Cheeto breaks. Cheetos rock.
Unfortunately Laquel's knee was bothering her so we couldn't make it all the way up to the top (her knee was already black and blue when we started!) but it was getting late anyway and so we headed back. Of course there were no porta-potties on the way down and Merima and I had to pee pretty bad. We decided to take this side trail that was pretty steep while the others took the regular trail down, that way we could get some pee privacy then wait for the others at the bottom of the trail. However, Amit decided he would tag along with us (he says he didn't hear us proclaim we were going to pee.... riiiiiiiight). So we chose our positions and peed whilst screaming to Amit to look up the mountain and not turn around. "Don't look!!! We're peeeeing!" Of course he turns and looks (although he said he didn't... riiiiiiiight). Well aware that my whole backside was mooning the bottom half of the mountain, I got an ill case of pee anxiety and couldn't go for a while. It didn't help that I was laughing my head off and lost my balance, rolling down the mountain with my pants down to my knees. Actually I didn't fall, but that would've been damn funny.
After that debacle, we climbed down to the bottom of the trail to wait for Walt and Laquel. Not 2 minutes past before 3 old people came strolling down the trail, where they could've gotten a clear view of Merima and I marking our mountain. Whew, close call.
I highly recommend the trek to those that travel to the bay area.. I definitely want to take my family the next time they come visit. The views were pretty amazing from the mountain, you got a clear view of the bay and the Golden Gate and Richmond/San Rafael bridge. Good times.
