Just brought home China from her 2nd TPLO surgery.. she was doing so good after the partial tear last year, but over Christmas while out with the petsitter, she completely tore her "good" knee and was on 3 legs when we came home.
I found an board certified orthopedic surgeon in town with good reviews from the othro dog yahoo group, and they were able to get us in this week. It's amazing how much less of a nervous wreck I am the 2nd time around :) No crying in the waiting room or anything!
You would think having a 900 pound animal living out in a field would be more expensive, but no, it's the 80 lb lab living the life of luxury indoors that has $8000+ worth of work done in her hind end.. :P Although.. I'm having a rough time with Isabella's new trimmer.. her fronts were at 4 3/4" length and 45 degree when I came home after Christmas.. (she's 14.1 - 14.2) I knew her toes were long, but these measurements are RIDICULOUS! Hello navicular?? I'm giving the trimmer a 2nd chance - haven't been able to go out and see her since she was done earlier this week. Hopefully we can get her toes back soon, otherwise I'm nixing this gal and going with another who can stay on top of things.

The inflatable collar is too big so I'll have to switch her to the e-collar when we're not home..

The Engagement
This past weekend we went to Leavenworth, it's a cute little German alpine village 2 hours from Seattle. They have really beautiful Christmas lights when it gets dark and quaint little shops you can walk around and explore. After it got dark (and into the single digit temperatures!) Matt and I were walking back to the car and we stopped to sit on a bench to listen to the Christmas carolers. I saw he didn't have his gloves on and asked him why and aren't his hands cold? He said something like, those are some good questions, now I have a question for you.. and he got down on one knee and proposed. :)
The ring is so beautiful and special. Earlier this year, he went to his dad (who is a financial adviser) on how he should manage his money to buy me a ring.. his dad said, "hold that thought" and took him down to the family's safe deposit box where he had been keeping Matt's grandmother's engagement ring (she had passed away). Matt had the diamond reset to give to me. I <3 it :)
Had a crazy dream last night.. a massive storm was coming. Hundreds of horses were galloping down the hills because they were spooked, running into fences and over people. I went to my apartment (conveniently located on the 2nd floor) and randomly, Jenn Taylor was there (college roommate, hello!) asking if it was safe. I went down into the 1st floor courtyard into a small barnyard where Isabella has been reborn as a dewy eyed cute little foal, along with her baby calf roommate. She was drowning in her stall because all the rain was gathering. I let the water out and she was ok.. I scooped her up in my arms and took her into the apartment with me to keep safe until the storm passed.
Hmmm..
Storm = reading FB status updates of California friends.
Water deluge = recurring nightmare
Galloping horses = ?
Isabella needing me = I haven't visited her since Sunday and feel guilty
